Bank of America Corp. will offer PetRewards Visa cards that allow customers to display photos of their pets on the card.

The card, which carries no annual fee, gathers reward points for pet-related expenses and donations to participating animal shelters.
Cardholders get two reward points for every dollar spent at participating veterinary clinics, pet retailers, farm and feed stores and pet-specialty stores. They also receive one point for every dollar spent for other purchases.

Qualified customers can obtain the PetRewards Visa card by submitting a digital photo of their pets online at www.mypetonmycard.com.<br />

It is the latest move the Charlotte-based bank has made to expand its affinity-card program since acquiring Delaware-based credit-card giant MBNA Corp. in June for $35 billion.

The deal created the largest credit-card issuer in the country, based on balances.
BofA has said early efforts to offer more than 300 MBNA affinity cards through BofA's Web site and in pilot programs at 700 bank branches are exceeding expectations. BofA officials have said the merger's success hinges partly on the bank's ability to convince more of its customers to switch to credit cards issued by MBNA.

Charlotte-based BofA (NYSE:BAC) is the nation's second-largest banking company, behind Citigroup. BofA operates more than 5,700 retail banking offices and some 16,700 ATMs.
